The Latin ‘quaestionem’, from the verb ‘quaerere’ which means to seek, ask or examine and In the middle east the word question was used from old french question(noun),questioneer(verb)
WHERE DOES THE WORS ANSWER COME FROM
The answer which can be a verb or a noun comes from the Old English for swear, and the word originally meant a sworn response to a legal charge. We don’t have to swear in when we answer we just need to reply.
HOW TO FORM A QUESTION.
A simple way to form almost any question in English, Follow this formula:QUASM
QU estion word
A uxiliary word
S ubject
M ain verb
Question word – A sentence starts with a word to elicit information.
Auxiliary word – Auxiliary word means which provides help or support to form a question.
Subject – A subject is a part of the sentence that contains a person or thing performing the action.
Main verb – The main verb is called a lexical verb or the principal verb, This term refers to the important verb in a sentence the one that typically shows the action.
The formula QUASM can be used for many tenses.
EXAMPLES:-
Simple Present Questions
Where do you stay?
QU A S M
Here, Where is the Question word, Do is the auxiliary word, You is the subject, and Stay is the main verb.
What does she think about this?
QU A S M
In this case, the Auxiliary word does because the subject is She.
Simple Past Questions
For questions in the simple past, the Auxiliary word is ‘did’.
How did he like the work?
QU A S M
Where did you buy the shoes?
QU A S M
Present Continuous Questions
For questions in the present continuous Auxiliary word is were or was.
What are you doing now?
QU A S M
Why is stark ignoring me?
QU A S M
Present Perfect Questions
For questions in present perfect Auxiliary word will be Has or Have.
How long have you been waiting here?
QU A S M
Future Questions
For questions in the future, we can use will or going to.
Who will you invite on birthday?
QU A S M
When are you going to write your exam?
QU A S M
Modal Questions
In the case of the modal questions, Auxiliary words will be should, could, or would.
Where should we go today?

Yes/No Questions-ASM
When we talk about Yes or No question we don’t have a Question word(QU), But we do follow the formula of Auxiliary word, Subject word, and Main word(ASM)

Did you enjoy the book?

Has she finished eating?
A S M
Exceptions of formula QASM
-Questions with “to be” as the main verb: “Are you hungry”
-Indirect questions
-Reported questions
-Subject questions
“Who ate the last piece of cake” also doesn’t follow this formula.
For any normal questions in verb tense, we can use the formula QU-A-S-M and always remember to be confident while forming a question it will also help you when you are making a questioneer for a project. The questions which are formed well are more likely to get answers.
How to Answer a question?
For answering a question we don’t have a formula like we had to form our question, But there are some points to remember while Answering a question.
- Always try to avoid Jargon words, Try to keep your answer simple so that it will be easy for people to understand
- Don’t mislead anyone with wrong answers, If you don’t know the answer you shouldn’t answer it.
- When someone asks a question you should answer that particular question don’t burden anyone with the answers they don’t need.
- When someone asks a question, paraphrase it or Repeat it back so they will be sure that have heard It before you answer.
- Try to commend or appreciate to one who asked a question, By saying “Thanks for bringing that up” or “Great question”.
